We humans have been shaping the earth and mud into a multitude of vessels and votives for millennia. From function to ritual, ceramic technology has been a tool for us to move water, cook food, make music and worship.
Come learn the basics of working with clay in this one day workshop. Three different colors of clay will be provided and your work will be fired and glazed and returned to hand made studio 30 days after the date of the workshop.
We will explore:
• Coil building techniques
• Making pinch pots
• Ocarina construction
• Bead making

Teacher Bio: Amanda Jayne Kennedy studied sculpture at Kansas City Art institute, in Kansas City Missouri, and received her BFA from the California College of the Arts and Crafts, in Oakland, California. With experience as an assistant for many large-scale sculptural projects as well as meticulous projects in wood and clay, her work draws on the practice of fine craft.
